It's been forever...but finally, an update

Okay, so apparently I'm not so great at keeping up with this blog.  It's been forever, and I was supposed to finish the moving story.  Okay, here goes. Long story short...REALLY short.  From where I left off:  we moved here, stayed at a cool place on post called Uchee Creek for a week in a really cool one bedroom cabin.  It had a little kitchenette, a set of bunk beds, a table, and a love seat in the main living area, then a full size bed in the bedroom with a bathroom off of it.

Much cheaper and slightly more room than a standard hotel room. Plus it was somewhat in the woods, and just fun :)

After being there a week, we signed a lease on our apartment...which (here comes the really short part) we only lived in for two weeks before being offered a house on post.  SIGH.  We had hoped that if we were going to be offered a house on post within a month that they'd try to let us know, because we totally would have stated at Uchee Creek.  Oh well...we paid the one month's rent penalty fee for breaking the lease, and moved out of our really really awesome apartment after two short weeks (and might I add...we had pretty much finished unpacking every last box before we had to pack them all up again. That'll teach us!  And on another side note, we've been in our house since the beginning of February and we haven't unpacked all our boxes yet this time!!!)
Here's the only shot of the apartment I could find for now... I know I have more on my phone, but oh well. It's old news anyway. This picture happens to be of us packing up again :)
Well, the day we moved must have been pre planned for us.  It made me feel like it was moving day in WA all over again.  It RAINED.  Maybe it's just God's way of helping us clean our furniture...I don't know, but this had to have been the third time our stuff got rained on in the moving process??  :)  Yay for clean*er* furniture :)
We blocked the road with the gigantic 26 foot U-haul (which we FILLED--time to clean out MORE MORE MORE junk!!)
Here are the guys shimmying the couch in the doorway (uhh...shimmying? spelling???)

Oh, and I know I mentioned the rain...but it was COLD that day too--I have proof. I was wearing my purple down jacket OVER my down vest...and I was WET. So what did I do? I made a face at the camera of course, celebrating the irony of moving from a rainy state to a sunny state...and still moving in the rain :)

Oh, and I learned that the shoes I had slipped on that morning--not so hot for moving (did I mention in the rain??)
My feet were soaked to the core.  Oh well, water under the bridge, eh?  (oh, I make me laugh. I know Brad would laugh if he read it!)  (oh, oh!! And Alissa, remember when I said I had taken some pictures specifically with the blog in mind???  These were them...or it...or however you would word that properly :))

I'll post again (soon, I hope!!) with pictures of the interior. I have a couple, but they're pretty dated.  If I can find them, I'll add them at the end of this post.  BUT...not now. I have a lot left to add!!  I know everyone really just wants to see pictures of the girls!!

Well, since I posted last, Brooke has turned six, and Natalie has turned one.  I don't even think I have pictures from Brooke's birthday--we were up at my Mom's and I think that was when Cassi made her a pink cake...or I did, or something!  She's just getting too big too fast.  I'm not so sure I like that!  I do have a few pictures from Natalie's b-day.  My friend Crystal made two of the most amazing cakes, and we enjoyed them at her house with her husband...and then I made some cupcakes for Natalie to eat at our house. Here are a few (not so great) pictures:

So yeah, we enjoyed some cake :)

Hmm...what else has been going on???  Well, I (as many of you already know)  took a job as  Pre-K teacher for the Georgia state Pre-K program.  Basically, GA offers free Pre-K almost as though it's part of the public school system.  It has been fun, and challenging, and tiring, and good all in one.  Fun more often than not, challenging more often than not, and tiring all the time...but over all good I think :)  Raelyn and Natalie are in an in-home child care on post at my friend Janelle's.  She's pretty amazing with kiddos, and Natalie MUCH prefers her over a center-based child care facility.  Raelyn loves playing with Janelle's daughter Leah, and even though she knows the routine, she still has to ask me EVERY morning "Where are we going? ...To Miss Shanah's?"  (that's my best interpretation of my poor child trying to annunciate her words...)  Brooke goes to school right next door to where I work, so every morning she gets to walk to school from my work.  Again, she's growing up too quickly, and it's so bittersweet.  Good things are happening at work...and there have been rumors of even better things happening for me soon. We'll see :)

I have a bunch more pictures that I want y'all (hahahaha...southern vocab) to see, so I'm going to just post them and let them speak for themselves. They're from a couple different Easter egg hunts we did, and some various snapshots from playing around the house. Enjoy :)

Raelyn was pooped after this egg hunt. Not sure why she's in Brooke's seat...but she was FAST asleep the moment we got in the car!

A little story about THIS easter hunt.  The night before it had been soooo windy here, and rain storms swept through. In fact, a tornado touched down on post and took some roofs off some buildings. And I'm happy to report that I managed to sleep through the tornado warning sirens.  Happy as a clam I was... :)  And so were the girls when the rain was all done the next morning. They just threw on their shorts and rain boots and headed off to the post general's lawn for some Easter egg fun :)

Look at what they got!!  :)  This is a combination of a couple egg hunts, but I found them making faces out of baskets and eggs :)  Oh, and apparently Brooke wanted you to see her play room, and the Twinkle Toes she worked hard to earn (her sticker chart said "Brooke shows responsibility and initiative") because I found these next few pictures on the camera:

And a few more that just make me smile :)

Hope you enjoyed!  I'll have more to post this weekend after the Easter Bunny drops some eggs from a helicopter...Yup! It's true. Hopefully I'll have pictures to prove it :)
